Roy Vernon - Producer

Roy Vernon - ProducerRoy's work includes 'The Van Boys' - a 91 minute feature starring Paul Usher and Scott Williams.

'The Van Boys' was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999. This low budget movie astounded it's competitors by achieving a video release with Metrodome, despite it's micro budget. A triumph indeed for a first time movie. An absolute marvel, considering only £180,000 was made available to the production team.

'The Van Boys' remains in the top 500 most viewed videos at Blockbuster stores nationwide.

2001 saw Roy launch 'Daddyfox' from the luxury yacht; 'The Bettina', again at the Cannes Film Festival. This trans-European thriller, starred Anita Dobson, Martin Hancock, Steven Pinder, Dave Courtney, John Conteh, Tommy Boyle and even Lionel Blair.

'Daddyfox' proved a massive logistical triumph for Roy, after he successfully shepherded the entire cast and production crew to Corfu and back, during the filming of this epic 130 minute thriller.

During the autumn of 2002, Roy added a third movie to his string of comparatively low budget movies, ranging from £180,000 to £1.2m. Britain's best loved scouse comedy actor; Ricky Tomlinson, teamed up once more with his old Brookside buddy; Steven Pinder, for Roy's latest production of 'Derek' - a Christmas comedy.

Don't get me wrong, I've had to cut my teeth as a producer in this tough industry which ever way I could, but low budget movies and their shortage of adequate funding, do tend to stifle creativity and the freedom to express oneself properly.

It'll be nice to have enough money in the budget, to take a break for a change and pay somebody else to run about like a headless chicken ".
